Biography of Natalia Barbu

Natalia Barbu, is a renowned Moldovan singer and songwriter, born on August 22, 1979. She gained widespread recognition for representing Moldova in the Eurovision Song Contest 2007 with the song "Fight". Remarkably, she is set to represent her country once again in 2024 with the song "In the Middle".

Throughout her career, Natalia has ventured into various musical experiments, including collaborating with a group of musicians known as Trigon on an alternative jazz-folk project. Renowned for her versatility, she writes her own lyrics, composes music for most of her songs, and collaborates on arrangements with her team.

In 2006, Natalia Barbu inked a three-year contract with Cat Music Records (Sony Music) in Bucharest, Romania. One of her notable achievements was the release of her single "Îngerul meu" (My Angel) in Romania, which topped the Romanian Top 100 for 11 consecutive weeks and received significant airplay on MTV Romania.

Barbu's Eurovision journey began in 2007 when she was chosen to represent Moldova with the song "Fight" . Her success continued with a 10th place finish in the final, scoring 109 points.

In 2012, Natalia embarked on a collaboration with musical producer Radu Sirbu and songwriter Ana Sirbu (Sianna) under the label Rassada Music. She debuted her new track, "I Said It's Sad" , signalling a notable stylistic shift. The song reached the No. 1 position in the Top 10 Airplay Moldova charts. Additionally, she released "Iubire Cu Aroma De Cafea"  and "Confession" , both of which participated in the Romanian national selection for the Eurovision Song Contest 2013.

Natalia Barbu's journey to Eurovision continued in 2024, as she participated in Etapa națională 2024, the Moldovan national final, with her song "In the Middle". Securing the top spot in the audition round on January 13, 2024, she advanced to the final and ultimately earned the privilege of representing Moldova at Eurovision.
