Biography of Baby Lasagna

Marko Purišić, born on July 5, 1995, and professionally known as Baby Lasagna, is a versatile Croatian artist excelling as a singer, songwriter, and music producer. He is poised to represent Croatia in the Eurovision Song Contest 2024 with his captivating track "Rim Tim Tagi Dim".

Purišić's musical journey began as the guitarist for Manntra, a renowned Croatian rock band, where he contributed from 2011 to 2016 and later from 2018 to 2022. During his time with Manntra, they participated in Dora 2019, achieving the impressive fourth position with their song "In the Shadows" . However, in 2023, Purišić decided to embark on a solo career, marking a significant transition in his musical pursuits. Under the pseudonym Baby Lasagna, he unveiled his debut single "IG Boy"  in October 2023, followed by "Don't Hate Yourself, But Don't Love Yourself Too Much"  in December of the same year.

His solo endeavours culminated in his participation in Dora 2024, Croatia's selection event for the Eurovision Song Contest. With "Rim Tim Tagi Dim", Purišić emerged victorious, clinching the top spot in the final after advancing from the semi-final in February 2024. The song made waves, debuting at number 24 on the HR Top 40 chart and eventually reaching the pinnacle of the chart. It also made a significant impact on Billboard's Croatia Songs chart, debuting and peaking at number two. Additionally, Purišić showcased his versatility by serving as a presenter at the prestigious 31st Porin Awards in March 2024.

In 2022, Purišić left an indelible mark as a co-writer for several tracks on Mono Inc.'s highly successful album, "Ravenblack", which soared to the number one position in Germany. Notably, his contributions included singles like "Princess of the Night", "Empire", "Heartbeat of the Dead", "Lieb mich", and "At the End of the Rainbow".

Purišić's stage name, Baby Lasagna, was inspired by a spontaneous moment during a search for water and a headache pill in Novigrad. His visual aesthetic has been described as a blend of gothic and emo, occasionally resembling a reinterpretation of Mattel's iconic Ken doll.

Drawing influence from artists like Rammstein, Electric Callboy, and Tonči @ Madre Badessa, Purišić's music defies genre boundaries, incorporating elements of pop punk, techno, metal, and house. His songs often serve as autobiographical narratives, shedding light on personal experiences intertwined with broader societal issues, particularly those affecting Croatia. Tracks like "Rim Tim Tagi Dim" stand as poignant reflections on themes such as migration and the pursuit of a brighter future.

The Song

Song Rim Tim Tagi Dim
Writer(s):  Marko Purišić
Composer(s):  Marko Purišić
Broadcaster: HRT

This song stands on its own as a bold statement, unapologetically provocative and an anti-war anthem. It's a unique blend of a drag show and a military parade, with lead singer Damir Martinović describing it as a "war opera" that goes beyond just denouncing war. The performers resemble dictators donning lipstick, driving home the message in a visually striking manner. Despite stiff competition this year, this song has already emerged as a strong contender in beforehand. Let's hope that this message resonates with audiences.
