Biography of Hera Björk

Hera Björk Þórhallsdóttir's journey in the Eurovision Song Contest is rich with experiences. In 2010, she represented Iceland with her partly self-penned song "Je ne sais quoi," following her role as a background vocalist for Iceland's Eurobandið and Yohanna in 2008 and 2009. Her semi-final performance secured her a commendable third place out of 16 contestants. However, in the final, she landed in the 19th position out of 25, despite higher expectations.

In 2009, Hera aimed to represent Denmark with her song "Someday" but narrowly missed out in the preliminary selection, losing to Niels Brinck.

Her triumph came in 2013 when she clinched victory for Iceland at the Viña del Mar International Song Festival with her captivating performance of "Because You Can".

Hera continued her involvement in the Eurovision realm, providing backing vocals for María Ólafsdóttir's Vienna performance in 2015. Additionally, in 2016, she took on the role of hosting the Eurovision In-Concert event in Amsterdam.

In 2019, Hera returned to the Icelandic preliminary round with "Moving On". Despite her efforts, she fell short of securing a top-two finish in the final, missing out on another chance to compete in the Eurovision Song Contest.
