Biography of Alessandra
Alessandra Watle Mele, known professionally as Alessandra, is a Norwegian-Italian singer and songwriter. She was born on 5 September 2002 in Pietra Ligure, Savona to an Italian father and a Norwegian mother and grew up in Cisano sul Neva at the Ligurian coast. At the age of twelve, she won a local talent show called VB Factor in the Val Bormida region. After finishing high school in 2021, she moved to Porsgrunn, Norway, to live with her maternal grandparents before moving to Lillehammer to study at the Lillehammer Institute of Music Production and Industries.
In 2022, Alessandra participated in the seventh season of “The Voice – Norges beste stemme”, reaching the live shows in Espen Lind's team. She later competed in Melodi Grand Prix 2023, Norway's national selection for the Eurovision Song Contest, with her song "Queen of Kings." She won the competition and will represent Norway in the Eurovision Song Contest 2023 in Liverpool.
In an interview with Eurovision Fun, Alessandra revealed that she is bisexual and that her song "Queen of Kings" reflects her experiences as a bisexual woman. The big problem that her family in Italy should not get to know this. The step to move to Norway underlined her strong will to accept who she is. Hopefully she will receive good points from Italy.
