Now the time has come for the Grand Final of the 68th edition of Eurovision Song Contest 2024. The moment we have all been waiting for has arrived. 26 countries have the chance to be the next winner of the ESC.
The concept has not changed really, some small changes have come with this edition, in the semi-finals there were no juries involved, as there were some illegal things happening in previous years. The qualifiers for this year’s final might looked have differently. But in the Grand Final, the juries will have a weight of 50%, the other half will come from the televoters. Additionally, it is possible to vote from the beginning for the TV viewers, the juries have made their decisions on Friday in the so called “jury final”.
In tonight’s show there are a lot of up-tempo songs, only a few ballads, the stunning stage will help each entry to shine. The running order has been decided by the Swedish broadcaster SVT on behalf of the EBU reference group. In former years this running order has been determined by a draw. To make the show more exciting the organizers have decided to go a new way.
Beside all the fire and pyro techniques there will be other highlight such as a special message from ABBA. The three former ESC winners Carola, Charlotte Perelli and Conchita Wurst will perform “Waterloo” together. Furthermore the Swedish dance-pop legend Alcazar will reunite on the ESC stage and singing their “Crying In The Discotheque”. And as a special interval act two times ESC winner Loreen will present her new song “Forever” in a very cool stage presentation on a futuristic chair almost laying, it really looks like outer space, at the end she will also sing “Tattoo”, her winning entry from last year in a special version.
The might be another ESC scandal, as the Dutch singer Joost Klein might get into trouble as there have been unclarified circumstances that he did not took part in the last rehearsals for the Grand Final. It could be that the Netherlands might be disqualified this year.
It going to be an exciting evening and this can be cause a lot of surprises, so let’s enjoy the Eurovision night 2024.
