Miracles do always happen even at the Eurovision Song Contest. A lot of people believed that Luxembourg will never take part again. But last year in Liverpool, it has been officially announced that in 2024 Luxembourg is giving it another try – after 30 years of absence.

In the past three decades the Luxembourgian broadcaster RTL has been asked every year to join the Eurovision family again. As main reason, financial issues have been stated, which seemed to be far-fetched, as Luxembourg is not a poor country. Luxembourg belongs to one of the most successful countries in Eurovision with five victories.

Nevertheless, there has been a mind change in the RTL headquarters and Luxembourg is official part of the 37 contestants.

On Saturday 27, January, RTL will be hosting a national final in the Rockhal in Esch Sur Alzette, close the capital city. An international expert jury consisting of Alexandros Panayi (Greece), Christer Björkman (Sweden), César Sampson (Austria), Jan Bors (Czechia) and Tali Eshkoli (Israel) have selected eight songs out of 70 and there were 50 artists. Altogether there have been 459 song submissions. The song “Hold On” has been co-written by the Swedish success composer team Thomas G:sson and Peter Boström.

The pre-conditions were to be a Luxembourgian citizen, or having a citizenship for at least three years and having a cultural connection to music scene of Luxembourg. Strangely, there will only be one song in French language. Rumours say that maybe ESC winner Vicky Leandros might appear on stage

The host of the evening will be the ex-ESC host from 1984: Desirée Nosbusch together with the co-hosts Melody Funck, Raoul Ross, Loïc Juchem. There will jury- and televoting to determine the 2024 entry for Malmö, Sweden.

These are the eight songs and singers in the order of appearance:
