Unlike most other Nordic countries, Denmark holds only one national final to select its Eurovision entry, without semi-finals or pre-rounds. Tonight, the Danes will choose their 52nd representative for the contest.
Denmark last qualified for the Eurovision Grand Final in 2019, when Leonora performed „Love Is Forever“, finishing 12th in Tel Aviv. Watch here.
This year’s national final will feature eight modern pop songs. The most well-known artist in the line-up is Tim Schou, who previously represented Denmark in 2011 with the band A Friend in London, finishing 5th in Düsseldorf with „New Tomorrow“. Watch here.
The show will take place at Boxen in Herning, Jutland—one of the venues considered for Eurovision 2014 before the event was ultimately hosted in Copenhagen. The arena has also been used for the Handball World Cup.
Dansk Melodi Grand Prix will be hosted by Sara Bro and Stéphanie Surrugue. Interval acts will include last year’s Danish representative, SABA, as well as Danish music legend Birthe Kjær, who has participated in the national final multiple times and represented Denmark at Eurovision 1989 in Lausanne with „Vi Maler Byen Rød“. Watch here.
You can watch the Dansk Melodi Grand Prix on the DR player at 20.00 CET.

As one of the founders of eurovisionlive.com I am responsible for the interviews with the singers and the editorial content. My passion for the Eurovision Song Contest exists since my early childhood. The exotic music, different cultures and languages have given a lot of inspiration to me. Since my very first ESC in Dublin 1994 I particularly appreciate the get together and friendship of all the nationalities and Riverdance was a thrill!
