The Austrian capital will once again take centre stage in Europe’s biggest music competition. After months of speculation between two candidate cities, Innsbruck and Vienna, the Austrian broadcaster ORF has officially announced that Vienna will host the 70th edition of the Eurovision Song Contest in May 2026.
The decision follows Vienna’s proven track record, most notably the widely acclaimed 2015 contest, also held in the Wiener Stadthalle. The arena, with a capacity of around 10,000, may be smaller than some previous venues, but its state-of-the-art facilities, accessibility, and the city’s extensive accommodation options made it the winning choice.
This marks the third time that Vienna will host Eurovision, placing the city among the competition’s most frequent hosts. Only Dublin, Luxembourg, and London have staged the contest more often.
To celebrate the milestone 70th anniversary, Eurovision will debut a refreshed visual identity, featuring a bold new font and a striking blue-and-violet heart emblem.
The 2026 Eurovision Song Contest will unfold over three nights: the semi-finals on 12 and 14 May, followed by the grand final on 16 May.

As one of the founders of eurovisionlive.com I am responsible for the interviews with the singers and the editorial content. My passion for the Eurovision Song Contest exists since my early childhood. The exotic music, different cultures and languages have given a lot of inspiration to me. Since my very first ESC in Dublin 1994 I particularly appreciate the get together and friendship of all the nationalities and Riverdance was a thrill!
