This year’s Festival da Canção 2025, Portugal’s national selection for the Eurovision Song Contest, will determine the country’s 56th entry for the competition in Basel.
This Saturday Portugal will crown its next Eurovision representative during the highly anticipated Grand Final of Festival da Canção. Hosted by Filomena Cautela and Vasco Palmeirim, the event will be broadcast live from the RTP studio in Lisbon. The 12 finalists will take the stage, each vying for the chance to represent Portugal on Europe’s biggest musical platform.
The winner will be decided through a 50/50 voting system, with half of the votes coming from seven regional juries and the other half from the public vote.
Beyond the intense competition, the Festival da Canção 2025 stage will also feature special performances from last year’s representative, iolanda, as well as João Borsch, who will perform alongside Maria João and Huca. Additionally, Expresso Transatlântico will take the stage with Ana Lua Caiano and The Legendary Tigerman.

As one of the founders of eurovisionlive.com I am responsible for the interviews with the singers and the editorial content. My passion for the Eurovision Song Contest exists since my early childhood. The exotic music, different cultures and languages have given a lot of inspiration to me. Since my very first ESC in Dublin 1994 I particularly appreciate the get together and friendship of all the nationalities and Riverdance was a thrill!
