Biography of Kyle Alessandro
Kyle Alessandro Helgesen Villalobos, born in 2006, grew up in Steinkjer, Trøndelag. With a Norwegian mother and a Spanish father, Kyle was immersed in a multilingual environment from an early age and now speaks four languages fluently.
His passion for music began in childhood, and at just ten years old, he gained national attention by participating in the talent show ‘Norske Talenter’. This marked the beginning of his journey as a professional singer, leading to appearances on various TV shows and the release of two albums along with several singles.
In 2023, Kyle joined forces with Kristian Haux and Magnus Winjum as part of the group ‘Umami Tsunami’ for the Melodi Grand Prix, the Norwegian preselection for the Eurovision Song Contest. Their entry, "Geronimo" , secured them a spot in the final, where they ultimately placed last.
Following the disappointing result of Gåte’s "Ulveham" in the previous year’s Eurovision, the Norwegian broadcaster NRK decided to scale back Melodi Grand Prix 2024 to a single-show format. Despite the reduced scope, the competition featured notable names like Bobbysocks (1985 winners) and Wig Wam (2005). Kyle, however, emerged as a standout, winning both the jury and public vote.
The Song
Song: Lighter
Writer(s): Adam Christopher Allskog, Helgesen Villalobos & Kyle Alessandro
Composer(s): Adam Christopher Allskog, Helgesen Villalobos & Kyle Alessandro
Broadcaster: NRK
Swedish producer Adam Woods composed the song “Lighter” for Kyle, a pop track that stands out with its unique blend of baroque, medieval, and traditional Norwegian folk influences. In “Lighter” Kyle Alessandro explores the emotional journey of reclaiming oneself after a toxic relationship.
The production feels fresh and distinctly contemporary, capturing the musical aesthetic of 2025 and resonating with the tastes of a younger audience. However, while the track is sonically rich, it lacks a strong hook or memorable melody, which may result in it being overlooked once the final points have been tallied.
