Australia’s entry for this year’s Eurovision Song Contest is anything but ordinary. We had the chance to catch up with Go-Jo, the charismatic singer-songwriter from Sydney who’s making waves with his bold stage presence, catchy melodies, and a unique story of resilience and creativity.
Born and raised in the remote Outback of Western Australia, Go-Jo grew up far from the glitz and glamour of the music industry. “I was pretty isolated as a kid,” he told us. “We didn’t have much around except the land, the sky, and a lot of time to dream.” That solitude, however, shaped his creativity and drive. “It gave me the space to figure out who I really am and what I want to say with my music.”
Now based in Sydney, Go-Jo is stepping into the international spotlight with his Eurovision entry, a high-energy track titled “Milkshake Man.” The title might raise a few eyebrows, but the meaning behind it is deeper than you might expect. “It’s about being unapologetically yourself,” Go-Jo explained. “The ‘Milkshake Man’ is kind of a symbol for joy, weirdness, and embracing the parts of yourself that don’t fit the mould.”
And if that wasn’t intriguing enough, wait until you see the staging. Go-Jo plans to perform the entire song from inside a van on stage. “It’s like a mobile party,” he laughed. “But it’s also a metaphor — the van represents movement, freedom, and not being tied down.”
Before heading to Eurovision, Go-Jo had the chance to test the waters at a major pre-party in Amsterdam — and it left a lasting impression. “The crowd was amazing. I got to meet other artists, feel that Eurovision buzz, and just soak it all in. It gave me a lot of confidence going into the main event.”
With a powerful message, a wild concept, and undeniable charm, Go-Jo is quickly becoming a fan favourite. Want to know more about the rising star from Down Under?

As one of the founders of eurovisionlive.com I am responsible for the interviews with the singers and the editorial content. My passion for the Eurovision Song Contest exists since my early childhood. The exotic music, different cultures and languages have given a lot of inspiration to me. Since my very first ESC in Dublin 1994 I particularly appreciate the get together and friendship of all the nationalities and Riverdance was a thrill!
