Biography of EMMY
For years, Ireland has held a small national final as part of the popular late-night show The Late Late Show. This year, out of six contestants, Norwegian singer Emmy secured the ticket to Basel.
Born Emmy Kristine Guttulsrud Kristiansen in 2000 in Sand, near Oslo, she grew up in a musical family. At just 14, she competed in the junior version of Melodi Grand Prix 2015 with “Aiaiaiai.” In 2021, she entered the adult competition with “Witch Wood,” reaching the final, though it was Tix who ultimately represented Norway in Rotterdam. Beyond performing, Emmy has played key roles in Eurovision, serving as a Norwegian jury member in 2023 and co-writing “Woman Show” for Mathilde SPZ, Chris Archer, and Slam Dunk. She also contributed as a songwriter for Citi Zēni’s “Ramtai,” which placed third in Supernova 2025, Latvia’s national selection.
Interestingly, there’s a historic Eurovision connection between Ireland and Norway: 30 years ago, the Norwegian group Secret Garden featured Irish violinist Fionnuala Sherry and won Norway’s second Eurovision victory with “Nocturne” in Dublin 1995.

The uplifting and funny song is about the first dog in space called “Laika”, who died unfortunately. The song's lyrical self hopes that Laika is still alive and dancing above the stars every night.
I hope Laika never died and that she spins around us still
And that she has a party in the air and always will
I hope that she is dancing every night among the stars
I hope Laika is alive
Laika party in the sky
Laika party in the sky
After last year’s dark and dystopian entry, Ireland brings a fresh and positive song to Basel. The Jakobshalle in Basel will dance and celebrate Laika making party in the sky.
