The Spanish broadcaster TVE has arranged a national selection again called “Objetivo Eurovision”. Last year there has been an internal choice. The opening of the medium exciting show has been Loreen with “Euphoria” in a special version. Loreen was also part of the expert jury in the studio. The show was hosted by Anne Igartiburu, who is a popular face in the Spanish TV and has presented the votes at the ESC for several times.
Out of six candidates the female singer Barei could convince the expert jury (30%) and international juries (30%) as well as the TV viewers (40%). The song “Say Yay” is an up-tempo song in English with a very interesting dance performance in sport shoes. Her look and attitude could be described as a mix of Amy Winehouse and Ann Sophie – last year’s German performer (Black Smoke).
The most interesting part was when Xúso Jones performed “Victorious”, which was also written by Peter Boström – the same co-composer as Loreen’s “Euphoria”. Later Loreen had to comment Xúso’s performance and Loreen said “It’s my song”. This song came 2nd, but it would have been far too similar to “Euphoria” and “Glorious” (Cascada 2013, Germany).

About me: As one of the founders of eurovisionlive.com I am responsible for the interviews with the singers and the editorial content. My passion for the Eurovision Song Contest exists since my early childhood. The exotic music, different cultures and languages have given a lot of inspiration to me. Since my very first ESC in Dublin 1994 I particularly appreciate the get together and friendship of all the nationalities and Riverdance was a thrill!
