![]() IntroductionIn the Macedonian national final which is the Skopje Fesitval Daniel Kajmakoski could win the ticket to represent FYR Macedonia in Vienna. He won a price of 20.000 Euro. He has become a singer and songwriter. In 2003 he took part at the X Factor Adria show. Daniel also has attended several other talent shows in different countries. He has been in the MTV Adria charts for several weeks with the movie soundtrack “We’ll Be World Champions”. Furthermore he participated in the official anthem for the Handball World Championship in Qatar. The song “Autumn Leaves” has been written by the Swedish composer Joacim Persson, who has already composed songs for Gloria Gaynor, No Angels. The song has previously been released in Macedonian. The song has undergone a renewal process and the lyrics and song title have changes into English. The song itself has also been pimped up to bring it on an international level. The video clip has been made in a very clever way. A comic shows the ups and downs of a love story. “Autumn Leaves” does not sound Macedonian at all, this could be a song from anywhere. This might be due to the Swedish composer. Nevertheless, this is a solid and melodic composition which will certainly do well in Vienna.
HistoryDebut: 1998
The Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia (FYROM) is participating for the 15th time this year. The debut entry “Ne Zori, Zoro” by Vlado Janevski in 1998 came 19th in the final in Birmingham. The former Yugoslavia took part 27 times and the debut was made in 1961. In the first years FYR Macedonia always qualified for the final. This was also due to the fact that the neighbour countries helped with votes. But this has changed, since 2008 Macedonia did not make it to the final anymore. The last time FYR Macedonia could reach the final, was Kaliopi with “Crno I Belo”, she even reached the 13th place in the final. The reason for the non-qualifying years had probably more to do with songs which were not preliminary made for an international audience and therefore did not met the European taste. Macedonia never made a top 10 place also, nevertheless the best songs were: “Od Nas Zavisi” by Karolina in 2002 (19th), “Life” by Tose Proseki in 2004 (14th) and “Ninanajna” by Elena Risteska in 2006 (12th). |
