In the last two years Switzerland did not make it into the final of the Eurovision Song Contest, even if there were good entries and performers like DJ Bobo and Paolo Meneguzzi. Switzerland has been one of the foundation members of the contest and the first contest in 1956 was held in Lugano. Even if Switzerland has four languages to chose from this year’s participants Lovebugs will sing in English! In recent years there were also singers from other countries representing Switzerland, like Celine Dion (Canada) Vanilla Ninja (Estonia), but this year the five musicians are all from Basle, Switzerland. They often performed as a warm up band on big concerts of Ash, Marc Owen, and the Rolling Stones. The Lovebugs are also known as “best warm up band in the world”. The song “The highest heights” is a very modern and contemporary song which reminds of the U2 music style. This song will definitely reach the younger audience as well as people who love good pop, Britpop and independent music. The melody is strong and dreamy with a positive an energetic message, definitely a good radio song with a great and unique interlude. Switzerland proofs that the Eurovision Song Contest has arrived in the 21st century! Congratulations Switzerland!
