The second day of open rehearsals have started with Iceland, even the Big 5 countries were on stage for the first time.
Officially it’s the sixth day already, but for due to the fact that the press was not able to follow the rehearsals on the screen during the first four days, we can name it Day 2.
Yesterday ten semi-finalists rehearsed for their second time, additionally it was the first time for the Big 5 countries on stage in the PalaOlimpico, with the intimate meet & greet, here it’s impossible to judge something at this point.
This is a short overview, what happened yesterday:
Iceland -> The three sisters Sigga, Beta and Elìn showed a solid performance. The group Systur means sisters in English. Now they have put their brother Eythor to the group as he will be playing the drum. As previously announced, that the mother will also be on stage has changed, she will stay in Iceland. But at there are at least four family members on stage, that’s unique!
Norway -> Compared to the performance at the Norwegian national final, there are not many changes. The choreography and the costumes are the same. This entry will attract attention.
Armenia -> Luckily, the Armenians have brought their own props on stage, so that they are not dependent on the given circumstances, as the promised rising sun is not working. Rosa Linn is going to sing in a kind of apartment, everything in white. A nice idea, but this Armenian entry has nothing typical Armenian this year.
Finland -> The Finnish stage show is very similar to the one from the Finnish national final UMK. There are yellow lights and black balloons are filling the stage. It was to be expected.
Israel -> Some countries this year do really offer an elaborated choreography, so Israel. Michael David Ben and his crew are all dressed in white, singing and dancing along. It’s definitely an attraction for the eyes.
Serbia -> This one of the most unusual entries of this year’s edition. An unusual song must also have a matching stage show, and so Konstrakta tries to convince the audience with her hand choreography, washing in her hands in a bowl. It need to be explained that this song is critical song about the Serbian healthcare system.
Azerbaijan -> The Azeri singer Nadir is wearing a grey outfit with colour gradient, which might be suitable for the song title “Fade To Black”. There will two stair constructions, where Nadir is climbing on and off. If this will bring the song any further is the big question.
Georgia -> The Georgian band Circus Mircus are taking advantage of the LED floor, with flashy and animating colours. This is a very special song with an extraordinary look. Very cool, catchy and striking!
Malta -> The Maltese song shall unite all people, no matter who they are, where they are from, a kind of “we all like each other”. That also flattens the song a bit, but on the other hand, this kind of song might have chances as it takes you away from all the problems in the world. With her silver dress, Emma is doing her best.
San Marino -> This is something very special, the Italian singer Achille Lauro, who has participated in the Sanremo Festival for several times is now singing for San Marino. With his sexy outfit, the cage on stage and the bull riding machine is worth to watch. So such a song must have the title “Stripper” for sure.
