Will the American Song Contest be loved like the ESC? It's the second heat of five
Not many believed that the Eurovision Song Contest will also take place in America one day. But this year this has become reality. The American Song Contest (ASC) is similar to the original ESC, with 56 participating states and oversea regions. The first show took place in a studio in the Universal Studios in Los Angeles with ca. 300 people in the audience.
There were 11 entries, one song has directly been nominated for the first semi-final and that is Hueston with "Held on too Long" representing Rhode Island. This was the most outstanding songs of the first heat. Furthermore the US public has voted for Oklahoma, Puerto Rico and Connecticut.
The entire show had a lot of Eurovision elements, but in a different way. Very positive is the professional stage setting and the lovely made postcards, which show not only the upcoming artist, but also a nice view of the participating state.
At this stage the voting is not a big part of the show, the winner of the juries will be announced quickly after the presentation of the songs, while the online voting is following days after.
This is the second heat with 11 new entries:
1. Oregon - courtship - "Million Dollar Smoothies"
2. Montana - Jonah Prill - "Fire It Up"
3. New York - ENISA - "Green Light"
4. Nebraska - Jocelyn - "Never Alone"
5. American Virgin Islands - Cruz - "Rock"
6. Kentucky - Jordan Smith - "Sparrow"
