
Portugal will celebrate its national final with ten songs in the run. Regional juries and televoters will determine the winner for Turin
The national final in Portugal is called “Festival da Canção”, and tonight the Portuguese are looking for their 53rd Eurovision entry. Last year the group The Black Mamba could reach a good 12th place with “Love Is On My Side” in the Grand Final of Rotterdam.
The system of the Portuguese pre-decision will remain like in previous years: 50% of the votes will come from regional juries and 50% from televoting. In two semi-finals with ten entries each, the best five have qualified for the final show. Out of 600 submitted songs, 20 songs have been selected, which had to undergo the semi-finals. The hosts will be Filomena Cautela and Vasco Palmeirim, Filomena was also one of the hosts of the ESC 2018 in Lisbon.
This year’s songs are less traditional, but more experimental. This trend could be noticed since a couple of years.
