The Netherlands have revealed their ESC entry 2022. It will be the 62nd entry for the Netherlands in the Eurovision Song Contest
The singer for the Netherlands has been announced a while ago: S10, one of the most popular singers in the Netherlands. Now her song has been revealed and the surprise is that the sung will be sung in Dutch “De Diepte” (the depth). Nowadays every country has the right to perform its entry in the language of its choice. A lot of country used to sing English to improve their chances. But a lot of winners recently have shown that the language is no barrier for victory e.g. Måneskin with “Zitti E Buoni” 2021 (Italian), Salvador Sobral with “Amar Pelos Dois” 2017 (Portuguese), Jamala with “1944” 2016 (Ukrainian) or Marija Šerifović with “Molitva” 2007 (Serbian). It also happens that artists choose a language which not connected to their own country e.g. Latvians sing Italian or Cypriots sing French, etc.
The last time the Netherlands have send a sung in Dutch was 2010, when Sieneke sang “Ik Ben Verliefd (Sha-la-lie)” and could not qualify for the Grand Final. The language was certainly not the reason for that.

My passion for the Eurovision Song Contest exists since my early childhood. The exotic music, different cultures and languages have given a lot of inspiration to me. Since my very first ESC in Dublin 1994 I particularly appreciate the get together and friendship of all the nationalities and Riverdance was a thrill!
