EBU says: "no Russia in Eurovision"! This clear statement has been overdue. Putin must be stopped on all channels
As things are getting more and more grotesque, a lot of countries have claimed to exclude Russia from the ESC, while breaking all international contracts and rules. Countries like Sweden, Denmark, Norway, Iceland, Netherlands and Estonia forced the EBU to exclude Russia. Finland has admitted that they won’t take part if Russia will be participating in Turin.
Now the EBU and the reference group have determined to exclude Russia from this year’s ESC. This was the best decision the EBU could make. Even if the ESC is a music contest, normally not political, it’s still an international stage, where singers represent their countries. Under these circumstances – a war in Europe – the aggressor Russia needs to be stopped on every channel, even Eurovision.
It’s still an uncertain and scary situation in the Ukraine, an affront to the entire world, where there is a high risk of getting out of hand. Even neutral countries like Sweden and Finland have been threatened lately.
