The host entry for Italy is called "Brividi" (shivers). Mahmood & Blanco could win the Sanremo Festival with more than 50% of the total votes
It has been a long night, the 72th edition of the Sanremo Festival has declared Mahmood & Blanco as winners. With their song “Brividi” they could reach the super final and receive the 50% of the votes from televoters, jury and demoscopic panel. Elisa made the second place with “O forse sei tu” and the former ESC representative Gianni Morandi with “Apri tutte le porte” came third.
In the press conference Mahmood & Blanco confirmed that they are going to take part at the Eurovision Song contest “for sure”. They are already successful in Italy, reached #1 in the “Italy Top 20” charts and on YouTube they have more than 6.5 million views with their live video and almost 10 million views with the official video clip, already.
In former years the Sanremo songs have often become “Italian classics” and evergreens, but mainly for the Italian music market. Since the victory of Måneskin, a worldwide success can be possible. This year’s entry “Brividi” from Mahmood, who has already made a great 2nd place in Tel Aviv with “Soldi”, also has the potential to become a hit at a higher level. Italy has made the best decision to send this duo to Turin, the host entry “Brividi” will definitely will stand out, a male duet can’t be seen very often at the ESC. Very good choice Italy!

About me: As one of the founders of eurovisionlive.com I am responsible for the interviews with the singers and the editorial content. My passion for the Eurovision Song Contest exists since my early childhood. The exotic music, different cultures and languages have given a lot of inspiration to me. Since my very first ESC in Dublin 1994 I particularly appreciate the get together and friendship of all the nationalities and Riverdance was a thrill!
