The 2020th ESC will take place in the Ahoj Arena on 12th, 14th and 16th May.
Rotterdam is the second largest city of the Netherlands with 634.000 inhabitants and has much more hotel capacity including the surrounding areas than Maastricht. With the skyscrapers and new buildings like the new market hall, striking architecture, Rotterdam has probably the most contemporary atmosphere to host this mega event.
It will be the 5th time that the Netherlands will be the host country in Eurovision history: 1958 Hilversum, 1970 Amsterdam, 1976 The Hague, 1980 The Hague and 2020 Rotterdam. The Netherlands have won five times as well, but has not been the host country the year after e.g. 1979 Israel won with “Hallelujah” and the following year Israel had the right to host the ESC, but denied, so the Netherlands were keen to host it instead.
