-and the Lithuania case
In this year’s Semi Final 2 the battle was a bit stronger due to the fact that 18 countries were fighting for a slot in the Grand Final, compared to the Semi Final 1, where there were only 17 countries, the Ukraine has been withdrawn.

In this show there was a bigger gap between jury voting and televoting. In the case that only jury voting would have been counted, Norway and Albania were not in the Grand Final, but Moldova and Romania. That appears strange because this would have more been expected by the televoters, due to diaspora voting. In this case North Macedonia would have been #1, followed by Sweden and The Netherlands.
In the other situation if there would only be televoting, Norway would have been #1, followed by The Netherlands and Switzerland. But Lithuania would be in, Denmark out.
There are rumours that the Italian televoting had an error, int that case Lithuania would have been in the Grand Final. This has been detected later on, when the Grand Final was already over. If there are any consequences is still unclear and not commented by the EBU. It’s not possible to change the past anymore.
Of course the viewing figures of the semi finals are not comparable with the ones from the Grand Final and a lot of diaspora voting can be noticed. People who don’t live in their home countries are likely to vote for their home countries. Especially Lithuania has profited from all the expats in the UK, Norway and Ireland, where there were 12 points given.
There was also a big gap between high jury votings for North Macedonia and Sweden, but the public gave significally less points.
Also Norway received only 40 points by the juries, but 170 – the majority of points by the public.
The last place in the Semi Final 2 went to Ireland, this is maybe due to the ordinary song and tiring stage presentation. Austria did not receive any points from the public.
