Congratulations to the Netherlands! The Netherlands have won the 64th Eurovision Song Contest in Tel Aviv. Duncan Laurance is the new winner in the history of the ESC.
After a very entertaining evening of music and later on a thrilling voting procedure until the last minute, the Netherlands made their fifth victory in the ESC history. The last time the Netherlands have won was back in 1975 with “Dinge A Dong” by Teach-In. It was one of the favourites from the beginning by the odds and fanclubs, but also convinced juries and televoters.
What a strange coincidence that the Netherlands have arranged the ESC 1980 instead of Israel, now they won in Israel. And the next ESC will take place in the Netherlands 2020.
There are a lot of tears, happy tears as well as sad tears are very close together. After a tight race in the voting procedure there were some surprises. North Macedonia has never shaped up so well and in the jury voting it was mainly leading at the end it was #2. And there was a head to head race between North Macedonia and Sweden. At the end North Macedonia came 8th and Sweden 6th. Everything can change with the announcement of the televotes. Nevertheless, it was the best result for North Macedonia ever. Also a very good second place for Italy #2 and Russia #3, congratulations.
With the new announcement of the televotes starting with the lowest placed song by the juries makes the voting even more exciting. Unfortunately, the United Kingdom made the last place with 16 points.
This is the final ranking with the points (juries + televoting):
We will further analyse the result.
