It has been no surprise that Elina Nechaycheva has won with the Italian opera song “La Forza” this year’s Eesti Laul with an overwhelming support of the audience and the jury. There have been quite strong entries in the Estonian national final though, but the opera song “La Forza” received the most applause of all. So it was quite obvious that she is going to get the golden ticket for Lisbon.
Stig Rästa came 2nd with his ballad “Home”. The third rank made the innovative entry “Laura (Walk With Me)” by Vajé.
There have been two voting parts, the first one came from the mixed jury, both national and international plus the public votes, which were SMS votes only, no telephone call! As always there has been a super final with the entries with the highest votes. In the second round the TV viewers could vote again for their favourite.
If this song is strong enough for Eurovision we will see in May, as opera songs have never really worked in Eurovision. Last time Malena Ernman from Sweden only came 21st in Moscow 2009.
