e German broadcaster NDR has put all efforts together for a better shaping up at the Eurovision Song Contest like in the previous. Therefore a new selection modus has been invented. Out of 4000 applications, 200 have been chosen. An expert panel has been involved which consist of 100 music interested people who have proven that their music taste matches with the outcome of the last years.

Out of 4000 applications, 200 have been chosen. An expert panel has been involved which consist of 100 music interested people who have proven that their music taste matches with the outcome of the last years. Those have judged 20 singers out of the 200. An additional international jury, which consist of up to 25 musicians (also ESC singers like Margaret Berger (Norway 2013), Tinkara Kovac (Slovenia 2014) and Ruth Lorenzo (Spain 2014)) together with the expert panel have voted for the strongest singers. Then six finalist have qualified for the last round and the songs have been composed to please their personalities, voice and charisma in the most effective way.
Now in the national German final, six entries will be performed, and again the international jury, the expert panel and the televoters will determine the German entry 2018. If this method is the best way for success, we will now in May
The German national final “Unser Lied für Lissabon” will be broadcasted live on Thursday February 22, 20.15 CET on ARD and livestream on www.eurovision.de.
