In almost four months’ time we will witness the 63rd edition of the Eurovision Song Contest! For the first time in history Portugal has won this prestigious competition. Portugal has always tried so hard to win the competition or at least to achieve one of the top places. Unfortunately, the juries and later the televoters did not see Portugal to win for decades.
In almost four months’ time we will witness the 63rd edition of the Eurovision Song Contest! For the first time in history Portugal has won this prestigious competition. Portugal has always tried so hard to win the competition or at least to achieve one of the top places. Unfortunately, the juries and later the televoters did not see Portugal to win for decades. But one man with a smooth and unique voice has convinced everybody: Salvador Sobral. With his extraordinary song “Amar Pelos Dois” (Love for two) for the entire country a dream came true. Wining the ESC was like a miracle – a fairy tale. Salvador has been celebrated like a hero when he came back to Lisbon.
It’s no secret, but Salvador is suffering of heart problems and had a tough time after the ESC. He still has not recovered. Nevertheless fame and glory will always be with him. Salvador has rescued the country’s pride.
With this strong emotions, Portugal is going to welcome the 42 delegations from Europe and Australia in its beautiful capital Lisbon. The weather might be good and sunny and it’s going to be a big festival throughout the city. Beside all the rehearsals and live shows, the city will be hosting the Eurovision Village to get the inhabitants and visitors into Eurovision mood all in line with the motto of the show “All Aboard”. The maritime symbols and elements will accompany the entire experience for visitor as well as for the locals. The Altice Arena is located at the stunning harbour, easy to access via public transport.
Due to the fact that it will not only be the first time for Portugal winning the ESC and hosting it, furthermore it will be the 60th anniversary of Portugal in the ESC as well. The Portuguese are very proud and they will be the best hosts for sure.
