Italy has won the 65th edition of the ESC in Rotterdam this May. With the band Måneskin and the song “Zitti e buoni”, Italy could achieve a well-deserved third victory since 1956. The big question is, where is the ESC going to be next year? There seems to be a great interest by a lot of cities all over Italy. The last two ESC’s in Italy took place in Naples 1965 and Rome 1991. Nowadays a host city has to provide a lot of necessary infrastructural requirements like a big and suitable arena with easy access which is also capable for an extensive live broadcast, enough hotel beds, airport close by, etc.
In the discussion are Milan, Bologna, Florence, Genoa, Rome, Trieste and Turin, as well as smaller cities like Rimini, San Remo, Acireale, Alessandria, Bertinoro, Jesolo, Matera, Palzzazolo Acreide, and Pesaro. The big favourites are definitely Turin and Bologna, as these cities have all amenities for a huge event like the ESC with thousands of visitors.
In the upcoming weeks there will be an official announcement by the Italian host broadcaster RAI, which city will be host city of the 66th ESC.
