This was the last day of extensive rehearsals of the Big 5 countries France, Germany, Italy, Spain and the United Kingdom and the host country The Netherlands. These were also the last press conferences the delegations had to go through. The most important thing was the draw of the finalist whether they will perform in the first or second half.
We followed those and here are our findings:
The group Måneskin has exchanged their outfits, now they are all wearing red and sexy clothes. They are also showing the fashion taste in the press conference, when they have been wearing big squared beige jackets. All in all they are getting better and the stage looks amazing, a bit reduced compared to other entries, but that’s the key. They have met the Finnish group Blind Channel already, as they are the second rock band in this ESC. And Måneskin is also starting a tour in December.
There haven’t been any changes in the German act. Jendrik was happy as always and he also was out of breath after rehearsing three times after another. The stage show is quite hectic so that’s probably the reason for being out of breath. But Jendrik enjoys it very much. With such a positive energy he will certainly get many plus points.
The setting has been changed a bit and Jeangu was wearing something more discreet. It’s even Jeangu’s twin brother on stage and the team has been singing all the voices from tape. It has been recorded a couple of times and merged to have the choir effect. Jeangu is an open gay man, who is proud to be like he is. And people in Suriname are proud on him. That’s a beautiful situation for him.
This is best stage setting in this year’s ESC. Black and shiny with glittering stars on the floor, the shadow sequence with the birds and the camera man is swinging along with Barbara. This is absolutely timeless and could be played 50 years ago or in the upcoming years. It feels like being in a jazz bar in Paris with a glass of red wine. Vocally, Barbara is very secure and her charm spreads over to the TV viewers. This is the mighty winner this year.
The only difference to the first rehearsal is that the trumpet props are hanging in the air in the beginning. James is having fun on stage and dances along. The long leather jacket looks a bit old-fashioned. James is a cool guy and enjoys his stage show.
The last country to rehearse was Spain. Blas Cantó is wearing a black shirt and black pants, very elegant and modern. The stage shows the universe and the big moon has a size of 6 metres. The stage show should symbolize the circle of life. In the odds Spain can be found on the bottom, but for sure the live performance can change everything.
