Rock, especially Hard Rock is very popular in Finland. So it’s no wonder that this music genre has also been send as Eurovision entries. With one hard rock song “Hard Rock Hallelujah”, the popular group Lordi could even win the ESC in 2006. This year the only rock song in the Finnish national final UMK called “Dark Side” by the band Blind Channel has won with almost three times more votes than the runner up. This song received the highest votes from the international juries already, which counted only 25%. The majority of votes (75%) came from the Finnish public.
Last year’s representative Aksel, made the 5th place and Laura from Estonia the 7th place.

About me: As one of the founders of eurovisionlive.com I am responsible for the interviews with the singers and the editorial content. My passion for the Eurovision Song Contest exists since my early childhood. The exotic music, different cultures and languages have given a lot of inspiration to me. Since my very first ESC in Dublin 1994 I particularly appreciate the get together and friendship of all the nationalities and Riverdance was a thrill!
