In a big national final, France has made its decision to send Barbara Pravi to Rotterdam. It has been a very entertaining evening of French music with modern pop songs, some crazy songs, ethnic songs and also some typical French ballads. Even a group of Tahiti, French Polynesia made it to the final round. But there has been one song, which has been falling out of the others “Voilá” by the lovely 27-years old Barbara Pravi. It has been obvious that her idols Edith Piaf and Jacques Brel when listening to this chanson. The little sad melody and the drama, added with the good stage and light effects is something typical, very French.
No wonder that “Voilá” has received the highest points both from the jury and the French public. This song will stand out in Rotterdam as well, it’s out of time, but it has a beauty which is very beautiful in these turbulent times.
