In the fifth heat of the Swedish Melodifestivalen which was the Second Chance show another dramatic change could be noticed. Loreen, who won the ESC back in 2012 with “Euphoria” has missed out the qualification for the Grand Final next week. In a duel with the young singer Anton Hagman, her performance did not convince the Swedish televoters. This is sad for Loreen and her extraordinary song “Statements” with the unusual performance. This song might have not been strong enough like “Euphoria”, this was nothing which could top “Euphoria”.
Interesting to see is that none of the well-established Swedish singers Charlotte Perrelli, Roger Pontare could make it into the final. And this is not the first time this happens, even Carola, Elisabeth Andreassen or Katrina & The Waves failed. Maybe it’s due to the fact that they have already had their chance and glamour and the Swedes wanted to see new faces and maybe a lot of people think that those bigger stars will receive enough votes even though, so people tend to vote for somebody else.

About me: As one of the founders of eurovisionlive.com I am responsible for the interviews with the singers and the editorial content. My passion for the Eurovision Song Contest exists since my early childhood. The exotic music, different cultures and languages have given a lot of inspiration to me. Since my very first ESC in Dublin 1994 I particularly appreciate the get together and friendship of all the nationalities and Riverdance was a thrill!
