Biography of Sissal
The Danish national final took place at the Boxen Arena in Herning, Jutland—the country’s largest multi-purpose venue, which also hosted this year’s Handball World Championship. Boxen was even considered as a potential venue for Eurovision 2014 before the contest was ultimately held in Copenhagen.
In a closely contested competition, Sissal emerged victorious, securing the majority of points, mainly from the jury, while the public vote favoured Tim Schou. Schou, who previously represented Denmark at Eurovision 2011 in Düsseldorf with ‘A Friend In London” and their hit “New Tomorrow”, achieved an impressive fifth-place finish.
Denmark has struggled to reach the Eurovision finals in recent years, last making it through in 2019 with Leonora’s “Love Is Forever”. Now, Danish fans are pinning their hopes on Sissal to break the streak and bring the country back to the Eurovision spotlight.
Sissal Jóhanna Norðberg Niclasen was born in 1995 in Tórshavn, Faroe Islands. From the age of ten, she participated in children’s music festivals, showcasing her early passion for performing. In 2020, she moved to Copenhagen, where she became a regular on the festival scene, worked as a voice actor in a Disney film, and even had the honour of singing for the Danish king.
Musically, Sissal draws inspiration from Nordic electropop artists like Dagny and Robyn. A lifelong Eurovision fan, she describes the contest as a world where she truly belongs.
As a mother, Sissal has encountered societal biases about balancing parenthood with a pop career, but she is determined to break these stereotypes. She strives to show that motherhood is not a barrier to success in the music industry.
For her performance at the Danish Melodi Grand Prix, she invited family and friends to Herning, ensuring she had their support on this important night. Now, with the national title in hand, Sissal is ready to take on the Eurovision stage.

"Hallucination" was crafted by a team of six composers: Malthe Johansen, Chris Chordz, Line Spangsberg, Marcus Winther-John, Linnea Deb, and Melanie Wehbe. The song explores the theme of losing control and escaping into a dreamlike world, experiencing colours and sensations never felt before.
Musically, “Hallucination” is a sleek and modern pop track with a smooth, understated sound. However, in a fiercely competitive line-up, there is a risk that it may struggle to stand out, potentially blending into the background rather than making a lasting impact.
