The band Mamagama was founded in Baku in 2021 by three close friends: Asəf Mişiyev (vocals), Bəhruz "Huss" Əfəndiyev (guitar), and Allahverdi "Arif" Qumbətli (drums). Each member gained experience in other bands before coming together to create Mamagama, which has since become one of the most innovative musical acts in Azerbaijan. The band is known for its distinctive fusion of rock, pop, and traditional Azerbaijani music, as well as its energetic stage presence and deeply emotional lyrics.

Mamagama quickly gained international recognition, performing at several major festivals. In 2022, they participated in Kënga Magjike, one of Albania’s most prestigious music competitions alongside Festivali i Këngës. Competing in the "International Artist" category, they won with their song “Dreamer” .

Originally proposed to represent Azerbaijan at Eurovision in 2023, Mamagama lost out to TuralTuranX that year. However, 2024 is their time to shine, as they secured their spot in Basel after prevailing against 153 other competitors.

Mamagama's music seamlessly blends traditional Azerbaijani elements with contemporary styles, drawing influences from indie pop and alternative rock to craft a unique and dynamic sound. Their Eurovision entry, “Run With U”, embodies this fusion perfectly.

The song captures a sense of adventure and longing, as Mamagama expresses a desire to run with their beloved—through the night, under neon lights, and up to the stars. It’s an undeniably catchy track with an infectious hook, a driving rhythm, and a modern sound that still incorporates traditional Azeri influences.
