The Swiss broadcaster SRG SSR aired the first semi-final of the 69th Eurovision Song Contest live from Basel, Switzerland. Ten countries secured their spots in the Grand Final, taking place this Saturday:
- Norway
- Albania
- Sweden
- Iceland
- Netherlands
- Poland
- San Marino
- Estonia
- Portugal
- Ukraine
The show featured a vibrant atmosphere with a distinctive Swedish flair, thanks to the collaboration with a Swedish production team. Former Eurovision stars returned to the stage during the interval act, adding a nostalgic touch. A heartfelt highlight was a special message from Céline Dion, the 1988 Eurovision winner, who sent an emotional greeting to fans across the globe. Due to health concerns, it remains uncertain whether she will appear live during the final.
Unfortunately, the following countries did not advance: Slovenia, Belgium, Azerbaijan, Croatia, and Cyprus.

As one of the founders of eurovisionlive.com I am responsible for the interviews with the singers and the editorial content. My passion for the Eurovision Song Contest exists since my early childhood. The exotic music, different cultures and languages have given a lot of inspiration to me. Since my very first ESC in Dublin 1994 I particularly appreciate the get together and friendship of all the nationalities and Riverdance was a thrill!
