Right in the beginning of the year, a lot of pre selections will take place in certain countries. The deadline for the song submission is mid of March 2012.Some have even been held last year: Switzerland and Albania determined their representative for Baku already. Big final shows can be expected in Denmark, Sweden, Finland, Iceland, Norway, Malta, Germany, Estonia, Portugal, Slovenia, Netherlands and the Ukraine. A very popular show format with several heats and one big final is used by some countries, which causes a high awareness of the event and which raises the excitement. Other countries will have an internal selection and just present one song or more to the public, like Cyprus, Croatia, Bosnia & Herzegovina and Israel. Some of the internal chosen singers have been confirmed: Iris for Belgium, Željko Joksimović for Serbia, Kaliopi for Macedonia, Nina Badric for Croatia and Ivi Adamou for Cyprus. The other countries will either organize a show will determine their representative internally.
