In the meanwhile the preparations for the upcoming Eurovision Song Contest next year in Malmö, Sweden are in full swing. Some countries like Switzerland and Lithuania have started their selection process already! The Swedish organisers have also announced some changes which will reflect in the 58th edition. There will be one presenter only, hosting the event. In early years it was the rule to have one presenter only, but in the 1988 ESC in Dublin there have been two hosts (Michelle Rocca and Pat Kenny) for the first time and in 1999 even three hosts! Due to the increasing number of participating countries the individual song has not been announced anymore by the host, the gala style has gone with it. In 2013 there will be one host again, if the individual contribution will be announces like in former years is still open.

Unlike former years, the songs from the Eurovision Song Contest also have success in the European hit parades. Wining the ESC can also mean success in the charts. So it seems that Loreen’s winning entry „Euphoria“ has not only bewitched the Eurovision viewers, she has conquered almost all European charts and in many countries “Euphoria” is number 1! And that’s even in Germany and the UK! This is what Eurovision needs, good radio friendly songs with the potential becoming a real hit. This is also important for the singers and composers to be placed well in the European charts having the opportunity to start an international career and selling the songs.

The victory of Loreen has brought the crown of Eurovision back to Sweden. For the fifth time in history Sweden now has the honour to host the ESC. When Loreen returned from Baku, she received a phenomenal reception by thousands of people of Stockholm at Hötorget. The Swedish delegation accompanied Loreen on the balcony where she was singing her winning song “Euphoria”. Even the Royal Swedish Army Band is playing “Euphoria” in front of the Royal Castle in Stockholm.

Loreen from Sweden has won the 57th Eurovision Song Contest in Baku, Azerbaijan. With an electrifying and contemporary song called “Euphoria” Loreen has bewitched the Europeans. Her stage show was unique and will certainly become one of the most outstanding contributions, ever seen at Eurovision. Sweden has won the contest four times so far: 1974 with “Waterloo” by ABBA, 1984 with “Diggo-Loo-Diggi-Ley” by The Herrey’s, 1991 with “Fangad i en stormvind” by Carola and 1999 with “Tusen och en natt” by Charlotte Nilsson. So now this is the fifth victory for Sweden! Congratulations!

The procedure has been the same as last year a 50/50 mix of jury and televoting by every 42 countries, which took part in this year’s contest, which also includes the two semi finals. Sometimes it can happen that the pure jury result differs from the pure televoting result, this will be published in the next days. The results from the semi finals will be published soon.
