 Due to the fact, that the song submission deadline is scheduled for the mid of March, there is much activity in the participating countries finding the right song for Düsseldorf. Some countries have already chosen their song and singer already: Albania, Switzerland, Netherlands, Romania and France. In all the other countries the heat is still going on, big pre selections with several rounds are going to be held in Sweden, Norway, Iceland, Finland, Spain, Croatia, Lithuania, Latvia and Spain. In some countries there is a kind of “classic” pre-selection with one show: Poland, Azerbaijan, Malta, Portugal, Austria, Belgium, Greece, Denmark, Estonia, Ireland, Moldova, Macedonia and Slovenia.
Other countries do either have on singer and several songs to choose from like Germany, Serbia and the Netherlands. For some countries the broadcasting TV station is doing an internal selection like: Armenia, Turkey, Slovakia and the United Kingdom.
Italy is going to choose a singer out of the popular San Remo Festival. It’s still unclear, yet if the winning song will be the one representing Italy in Düsseldorf. Like every year there is nebulosity in Russia, Ukraine, Belarus and Hungary.
