The allotment of the 56th Eurovision Song Contest has been determined by a draw under the attendance of the EBU, this afternoon in the Apollo Theatre in Düsseldorf. This is not the running order, which will be determined in March. There 38 countries for the Semi Finals were split in 6 pots, those who likely vote for each other came in one pot. The Big 5 countries Germany, Spain, United Kingdom, France and Italy are automatically set for the Grand Final. It has also been determined that in which Semi Final the Big 5 country are able to vote: Semi Final 1: United Kingdom and Spain, Semi Final 2: Germany, France and Italy.
There is another important point which concerns the appearance in the Semi Finals. It does matter if a country starts in the first or second part of a Semi Final. The reason for this is a better preparation and organization for travelling. It can also considered if a country has good chances in first or second half.
Here are the results of the draw:
Semi Final 1 first part: Albania, Armenia, Finland, Georgia, Norway, Poland, Russia, Serbia, Switzerland and Turkey – second part: Azerbaijan, Croatia, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Lithuania, Malta, Portugal and San Marino.
Semi Final 2 first part: Austria, Belgium, Bosnia & Herzegovina, Cyprus, Moldova, Netherlands, Slovakia, Sweden and Ukraine – second part: Belarus, Bulgaria, Denmark, Estonia, Ireland, Israel, Latvia, Macedonia, Romania and Slovenia.
