Recently, all the songs for this year’s Eurovision Song Contest have been determined. There are now 42 countries taking part in the 54th edition of the contest. Due to negotiations with Latvia and Georgia, both countries wanted to take part. Unfortunately, the reference group of the EBU decided that the Georgian song “We don’t want to put in” disagrees with the rules. As there should not be any political statements – “put in” can also be realized as “Putin”. So the EBU asked Georgia to either change the lyrics or send another song. By mischance, Georgia has withdrawn ultimately for this year. Austria and Italy did not come back this year, but maybe there is a chance in 2010. The line-up includes well known names like Patricia Kaas (France), Andrew Lloyd Webber as a composer for the United Kingdom, the opera singer Marlena Ermann (Sweden), Noa (Israel) and Chiara (Malta).
