Armenia 2011

Armenia Participant(s): Emmy
Song: Boom Boom
Writer(s): Sosi Khanikyan
Composer(s): Hayk Harutyunyan, Hayk Hovhannisyan

Emmy Armenia is taking part in the Eurovision Song Contest for the 6th time already! It has been the first one of the Caucasus countries to take part in the biggest music show of the world. This is a great opportunity, especially for countries with a smaller music industry to be seen by a huge audience. That’s also the reason why Armenia sends its best singers to the ESC. Due to that fact that many Armenians are living spread all around Europe the country always made it into the final. And even more, Armenia always made it into the Top 10, this is very unusual. When you think of other countries, which never make it into the final at all, struggling not being last, Armenia has always been on the lucky site being one of the favourites. From the musical point of view, there are influences of the Turkish and Arabian with a hint of Russian elements found in the music style of Armenian Eurovision songs and this is very popular, danceable and touching.

This year there is another strong entry from Armenia called “Boom Boom” by Emmy, who already tried her luck last year and came second in the Armenian national final. The song is an easy listening up-tempo entry which is going to do well again, with the right blend of rhythm, light and sound. The Caucasian countries have all been place in the first semi final, which are known not giving high points their neighbour countries that can be seen as a little disadvantage.
