For the 11th time Latvia is taking part in the Eurovision Song Contest this year. From the beginning in 2000 Latvia had some impressive songs which are still unforgettable like “My Star” by Brainstrom (3rd), “I wanna” by Marie N in 2002 (1st) or “The war is not over” by Walter & Kazha in 2005 (5th). Beside of the early success in 2002, Latvia was not very fortune regarding the voting, there is always a little neighbourhood help from Estonia and Lithuania, so Latvia has been qualified for the final quite often. Last year’s entry did not reach the final and came last in the Semi Final.
From this year’s Latvian contribution we can expect something very interesting. Aisha is a striking young lady, who is coming along with a very unusual song. “What for” starts slowly and demanding with a mystic rhythm and melody. Due to the lack of outstanding songs in this year’s ESC, such a song can be the dark horse. It all depends on the live performance in Oslo. Aisha’s voice was a bit weak in the Latvian final.
