Feminnem With a strong continuity Croatia is taking part in the Eurovision Song Contest since the debut in 1993. Croatia has always been qualifying for the final since the introduction of the Semi Finals in 2004. With “a little help” from the neighbor countries, Croatia belongs to the strongest participants in every year. While Croatia was a part of Yugoslavia, Zagreb was the host country of the 1990 ESC, the group Riva won with “Rock me” in Lausanne in 1989.

The neighbor country voting has often been a point of discussion over the years. Due to the fact that all ex-Yugoslav countries share the similar taste of music and even musicians, this is more than clear that the points are flowing between all these countries. The Balkan countries are not to blame only, the Scandinavian countries, the ex-Soviet counties, Greece and Cyprus and many more have done the same over the years. To avoid an overhang of diaspora voting, the re-introduction of juries was a wise decision of the EBU.

This year’s group Feminim are no strangers in the ESC, as they have already participated for Bosnia & Herzegovina with “Call me” in 2005 who place 14th in the final with the ABBA-like disco entry. “Lake Je Seve” is a totally different song. This is a mid-tempo ballad with an interesting hook and a great presentation, judging by the appearance in the DORA (Croatian pre decision) and the video clip. This is definitively one of the strongest Croatian songs very catchy though, and even in this year’s ESC. Good luck to Croatia!
