Croatia 2008

Song: Romanca
Writer(s): Miran Hadži Veljkovic

Kraljevi Ulice & 75 Cents Croatia takes part at Eurovision since 1993. Over the years Croatia has send outstanding songs and great performers, like Doris Dragovic, who also sang for Yugoslavia in 1986. Due to the common culture of the ex-Yugoslav countries there is a strong bond in the taste of music and it also effect the voting. Croatia is often enjoying the goodwill by the neighbor countries, unlike Slovenia.

Croatia is proud on it’s music and when you listen to Croatian music you will find out why. There is heart and soul everywhere, pride and pain combined in wonderful melodies.

This year Croatia decided to send an outstanding song to Belgrade. Something you would not expect this year. As every country should try to give it’s best entry to Eurovision, Croatia has obviously overslept the opportunity to send a brilliant song! “Romanca” is very old fashioned and absolutely not appropriate for this modern event, like an old tango – is this the old people’s home revenge? Where is Vesna or Doris? Of course, everything is allowed. But will a song with two grandfathers on stage rock Europe? Probably not! One of the signers is not even singing, he is just talking. Maybe this will rock the nursing homes! Sorry Croatia 0 points!
