The Netherlands were not that successful recently in Eurovision. But now they are bringing back one of the most successful singers who already made the 4th rank in Birmingham: Edsilia! She should bring the Netherlands back on track with another fresh and trendy song. Many people thought she could have won the Eurovision in 1998. Now she is going to have another try. The song for this year “On the top of the World” is strong and catchy, maybe not as fast and danceable like “Walk on Water”. But it’s not getting easier, too. In 1998 there were only 25 countries participating, this year there are 42 countries! The absolute maximum of participating countries ever! And there is another hurdle: the semifinal. Due to the bad result from last year the Netherlands are starting automatically in the semifinal, only the 10 best out of 28 can go to the final.

The competition is strong as always, but many people criticized that the old charm of the Eurovision songs loosses from year to year. With Lordi as the winner the era of rock songs has come back and there are quite a few countries with rock songs, to follow the steps of Lordi. Edsilias song is bringing back the good old Eurovision style to the contest and many people will support that country to a good result. Good luck Edsilia!
