Portugal 2007

Portugal

Participant(s): Sabrina
Song: Dança Comigo
Writer(s): Emanuel, Tó Maria VINHAS
Composer(s): Emanuel

Sabrina If you look at Portugal’s history in the Eurovision Song Contest you will find out there were not many really successful moments concerning the results. Even if there were brilliant songs and performers and furthermore the voting has sometimes been a bit unfair. The style of the Portuguese music is generally different. Maybe it’s due to the fact that the Portuguese people are more dreamy, quiet and sentimental compared to the uplifting and positive Spanish attitude. This also reflects the musical style the Portuguese are sending to Eurovision.
Portugal does not benefit from the two show concept. Far less are watching the semifinals and some countries never take the barrier into the final, where there sometimes more than 400 million people throughout the world.

This year Sabrina is going to bring Latin styled music into Eurovision. She will not be the only one: Norway is also sending something similar. Both countries will start in the semifinal. Judging by the video the Portuguese song has less power than the Norwegian and Sabrina needs a great effort for a brilliant performance in Helsinki - it’s a big competition.
