Son de sol As well as in Scandinavia - the Eurovision Song Contest is the TV-highlight of the year in Spain. Since 1961 Spain takes part in the Contest and could win one time in 1968 with Massiel "La la la" and a tie with three other countries one year later. Spain has a great passion for music and at Eurovision it has presented great ballads like "La fiesta termino" by Paloma San Basilio (Gothenburg 1985) and catch popsong like "Bandido" by Azùcar Moreno (Zagreb 1990). One of the most popular Spanish entries is "Eres tu" by Mocedades (Luxembourg 1973).

Since Rosa took part in Tallinn 2002, the interest in the contest has grown enormously: on all market squares in Spain there are big screens which show the live-transmission. The atmosphere is unbelievable. Spain must not take part in the semifinal, it belongs to the Big 4 (Germany, UK and France) - the premium payers to the EBU - so Spain can start in the big final instantly.

This year Spain is going to be represnted by the trio Son de Sol. With their funny song "Brujería" they hope to tie up the big summer hit "Ketchup song". But it's still very different. In any case it's probably already a kind of kult-hit!
