2B The first thing on people's mind if they are thinking of Portuguese music is Fado. But the country has much more to offer and Portugal used its chance quite well in Eurovision to prove the great variety of songs during the years. Unforgotten are evergreens like "Bem Bom" sung by Doce in 1982, "Silencio E Tanta Gente" by Maria Guinot or "O Meu Caracao Nao Tem Cor" by Lúcia Moniz, which became 6th in the final in Oslo 1996. Portugal has often chosen ballads to represent the country - those entries usually managed to add a lot of style and glamour to the contest every year. Unfortunately they never were rewarded with many points. Especially Portugals ballads were great songs and the disappointment was quite high if they were not successful.

This year Portugal has to take part again in the Semifinal. The song "Amare" will be sung by the duo 2B and is refreshing different - a quite fast anthem. A great popsong indeed which can be played on every radio station. The experience showed us that Portuguese entries always ended up in the lower ranks - even if the song was of high quality. So we all have to cross our fingers for Portugal!
