Croatia 2004

Croatia

Participant: Ivan Mikulic
Song: Daješ mi krila
Writer(s): Duško Gruborovic
Composer(s): Ivan Mikulic, Vedran Ostojic

Ivan MikulicCroatia has been one of the most successful countries from the Balkan region and has always sent in songs of high quality with an added extraordinary stage presentation to the Contest since the country's debut in 1993. Often there has been the discussion about whether the Croatian entries should be sung in English or not but nevertheless there have been unforgettable contributions like "Maria Magdalena" sung by Doris Dragovic (Jerusalem 1999), "Neka mi ne svane" by Danijela (Birmingham 1998) or "Everything That I Want" by Vesna (Tallinn 2002).

Every year there is a big national final called DORA - this years winner is Ivan Mikulic with his song "Dajes mi krila" ("You Were My Only Love"). He has taken part in DORA five times already but this year he was lucky! His song sounds a bit like Italy's entry from 1991, "Come e doce o mare" sung by Peppino Die Capri that year.
