There wasn't a pre-decision in Turkey this year. The Turkish television TRT decided that the pop diva Sertab Erener should represent Turkey in Riga with an English sung song.

The singer was born in Istanbul in 1964 and is an educated coloratura soprano. She is the mega-star in her country and has already released seven albums and worked together with Sezen Aksu (Hadi Bakalim), Voice Mail and Ricky Martin. By the way Sertab has already sung a duet with this years' Greek singer Mando. Which is quite unusual, if you think of the relation between Turkey and Greece in former years.

Sertab's song "Everyway that I can" has been produced within three months of work. The video-clip has been filmed in the sultan's sleeping rooms of the Topkapi-Palace in Istanbul. This is quite suitable for the content of the song, because she is one of the sultans' concubines and doesn't get enough attention, so she tries several tricks to get him back.
